Lynn SteffesLynn Steffes, PT is President/Consultant of Steffes & Associates a rehabilitation consulting serviced based in Wisconsin.  She provides consulting services to rehab providers nation-wide. She has enabled providers to achieve optimum success in the delivery of high quality, cost-effective care to their patient/clients by offering assistance with:

  • Marketing and program development
  • Negotiating managed care contracts and payer relations
  • Training & staff development in the referral & payer relations process
  • Optimal reimbursement and documentation strategies
  • Lobbying and advocacy for therapy services

Ms. Steffes’ is a 1981 graduate of Northwestern University.    She is Network Administrator for a group of 50+ private practice clinics where her primary responsibilities include marketing, payer and provider relations and contract management.  She is the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association Reimbursement Specialist.  Her background has qualified her as a presenter for WI Jurisprudence in the areas of Billing, Documentation & Marketing.

She has worked with the National Easter Seals Organization to develop a national training program in marketing, billing & documentation for rehabilitation services.  She has also authored uniform quality, comprehensive, signature programs in Spasticity and Movement Disorders Management Program, School-Based Services Contracting and Health & Wellness Programs.

In addition to her work as a consultant, Ms. Steffes is an accomplished teacher, speaker and author.  She works as an adjunct faculty member in the physical therapy program at the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse Physical Therapy Program, teaching professional referral relations, payer relations and the role of a professional consultant.  In addition, she has addressed private practices, hospital systems, professional associations and therapy networks in twenty-four states regarding the professional referral relations process.  She also was on a faculty team that taught the Concentrated Business Education Section at the 2005 Annual APTA conference in Boston.

Ms. Steffes is active in her profession as a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Private Practice Section of APTA.  Currently, she chairs the Task Force spearheading an Educational Institute for Private Practice.  She is also a Task force Member for the Health Policy & Administration Section on Educational Resources. She participates locally with the Wisconsin Chapter of APTA – serving on the Chapter’s Reimbursement Committee and Medicaid Committee. 

Her personal interests include being an avid walker, dog-lover and fan to her high school-aged basketball, volleyball, soccer playing kids!  She loves to read and has an extensive library of user-friendly business books.

Craig Johnson, PT, MBA can offer you expert management advice, gained from operating his own private practice for over 10 years. Mr. Johnson provides business strategies for starting a private practice, clinic design and lay-out, and clinic operations.  His management experiences include oversight of billing and collections, provider relations and contracting, human resources and benefits, and fiscal planning and budget.  Mr. Johnson earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy in 1979 from the University of Minnesota and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in 2000.  He is a clinical faculty member at University of Wisconsin Madison, College of St. Catherine’s and University of Minnesota Schools of Physical Therapy.  Craig Johnson
